Introducing Heartless!

The advent of volunteer cemeteries was a short-lived fad (and later outlawed in most parts of Garden.) Public opinion fell short when it was discovered the ratio of familial duty to recreational bodysnatching had been grossly underestimated.

Introducing Heartless! (Basically, the latest version of Purple Soul/Baker) Please wish me luck,

Sale of a Deathsman, part three

A luxurious coffin is a must for anyone in Garden who is truly concerned with their final rest. Today's grave-robbers are a discerning breed and easily put-off.

Sale of a Deathsman, part two

While zombies aren't known for their fabulous conversation skills, there are many zombie novelists whose writings have graced the best-selling list time and again. Their favourite subjects seem to be cook books, legal discourse, and spy thrillers.

Sale of a Deathsman, part one

There is a secret cabal of like-minded individuals, driven and determined to control the course of events in Purple Village: they call themselves "Morning People." Any effort to subvert their actions has failed as no-one has been able to figure out when they meet.

A Rik Hoy Paper Toy

Trevor Frick of ITP Studios was generous to lend his time and talent to designing a BIT+ paper toy of local baking apprentice, Rik Hoy!

Print one off and fold your own! Decorate your office, or the office of someone who would strongly question the sudden appearance of an odd toy. Tease small animals. Tease larger animals at a safe distance. Enjoy!

Uniquorn

Unicorns were once extinct in Garden; they didn't take the news sitting down. Click to enlarge comic.

My writer's block continues, so today's comic is a redrawn classic. And by "classic" I mean "2010."

Character: Rik Hoy

A very basic turnaround of Rik and his colours. Yeah, he's blonde. And no, nothing stays in proportion when my characters start flailing about.

This drawing is actually for a friend I met at Comix & Stories, and I hope something will come of it. For now, it's a nice bonus for you, and a reminder that I need to draw something besides the comic once in a while. Also, I'm terrible at colouring.

Thank Waffles It's Friday

The Infernal House of Waffles isn't the best all-day breakfast eatery in Garden, nor is it the oldest; but, it is the only restaurant to feature a syrup that can make you regret EVERYTHING. Click comic to enlarge.

Today's comic isn't part of Bake Fear, I hit a creative wall there back on Tuesday. When in doubt, write about breakfast.

Night Baking 15

While demons crossed borders into Garden, 800 years ago during the Night of Lightning, Gardenians slept soundly in their bed, knowing full well the worth of a good night's rest. Click comic to enlarge.

And that's the end of "Night Baking," chapter one of "Bake Fear." Personally, I suggest reading it over from the beginning, but I may be biased. Chapter 2 starts on Monday.

Night Baking 14

As a sport, Cricket is neither widely played nor well understood in the country of Garden, yet still enjoys immense popularity. Click comic to enlarge.

Night Baking 13

Spice Wights were the bane of the old trade roads. Many a spice merchant had been set upon in the night, their wares dragged down into the Wights' barrows, never to be seen again. Until the Spice Wights' bake sale. Their horrible horrible bake sale. Click comic to enlarge.

Tumble along with the tumbling Tumblr-weed.

Night Baking 11

The village of Brie in the north of Garden popularly believes that sleepwalkers are privy to some heretofore untapped wisdom, and are followed in hopes that might lead to some new truth or salvation. Consequently, there aren't a lot of staircases in Brie. Click comic to enlarge.

Night Baking 10

The unchanging demand for cinnamon has put it under much scrutiny for its possible use as a currency. Except people keep eating it. Click comic to enlarge.

Late comic today for three reasons: errors, Sly Cooper, and the urge to burn this comic and redraw it. It will be redrawn, but probably only for the print-version.

The Dark Kinna Rises

Dentistry in Garden is aided by the mouth-numbing acaithesia berry, which is both highly-toxic and foul-tasting. Dentists call them the greatest boon to the practice since doorknobs and string. Click comic to enlarge.

I think it's safe to assume I enjoyed "The Dark Knight Rises." Although I felt that the Batman character himself took a back seat to the story, I only noticed that long after viewing. I was too enamoured with Joseph Gordon Levitt. I mean Anne Hathaway. Ahem.

This comic is just a fun diversion. "Bake Fear" will resume later this week.

I posted a cool sketch of Bane-Kinna on Tumblr last week. If you'd followed me already, I wouldn't have had to tell you that.

Night Baking 9

An evil warlock once ruled Garden from the Purple Mountains to the Iron Black Cliffs before it was discovered her only "magic power" was "talking very loudly." Click comic to enlarge.

You know I'm gonna be talkin' about this comic on Twitter.

Night Baking 8

Students in Garden attend school until the age of 15 when they are required to enter into an apprenticeship. Ambitious students will look into politics or academia. Lazier students will line-up for Grave Tester. Click comic to enlarge.

The RSS feed is by far the laziest way to read Purple Soul. That's how I read it.

Night Baking 7

Long drawn-out revenge is a common theme in Demonic drama. Unfortunately, Demons' longevity and attention to detail make their plays unwatchable by mortals. Click comic to enlarge.

Stalk Purple Soul on Facebook! I'd be grateful for the attention.

Night Baking 6

Basements and sub-levels are an earmark of Purple Village architecture. Nestled in the Purple Valley in the Purple Mountains, the villagers don't feel safe unless they're surrounded by rock. The village crest bears a rampant mole. Click comic to enlarge.

I'm going to be at Comix & Stories at the end of the month. Feel free to bake me some non-poisonous cookies.

Night Baking 5

Generations of stone elementals mining and building Purple Village have rendered its inhabitants almost completely oblivious to loud noises. A piccolo on the other hand... Click comic to enlarge.

Sometimes I get bored and tweet about dumb things.

Night Baking 4

As bats go, the Northern Toothlet is by far more docile and plump than its cousin, the Eastern Toothlet. The Northern is also more easily captured than the Eastern, which cultivated the use of lock-picking tools several generations ago. Click comic to enlarge.

I posted a few strip-previews on Tumblr last week. Might do the same this week. What've you got to lose?
